About Programme

Parvatibai Chowgule College (Autonomous), Margao is the only college in Goa to offer MSc in Information Technology. This programme is for students interested in Fullstack Software Development, Database Administration, Implementation of Complex Algorithms, Text and speech processing, Quality Assurance, academic and research.

MSc IT curriculum includes core courses in Design & Analysis of Algorithms, Information Retrieval etc. The elective courses include Data Mining, Advanced Database Management Systems, Software Testing, Computer Graphics, Mobile Computing, Natural Language Processing, Cloud Computing etc.

Apart from regular lectures, presentations and assignments, we also organize workshops and lectures on recent technologies. These lectures and workshops are conducted by industry professionals. Student Projects and assignments undergo rigorous verification & validation standards by faculty and industry experts. As part of the curriculum students undergo a semester long internship compulsorily in the Industry and work on live projects. Nearly all students get absorbed in the same company after the internship. Our infrastructure has well equipped labs of latest software (eg Windows 11 Pro) and hardware, WiFi support, Seminar Hall and an Oracle 12c specialized lab. The Department also encourages students to undertake online certification courses provided by globally recognized organizations (Swayam-NPTEL, Oracle, D-Link, Spoken Tutorial, Leap courses).

Unique to this course are:

* Well placed alumni network over a period of nearly two decades to mentor and facilitate the overall guidance and support necessary for current batches.

* Industrial Internship Our College students also implement a project in any IT industry or Scientific/Research Organization for the duration of 5 months.

Eligibility

B.Sc(Comp Sci.)/BCA/B.Voc.(SD)/Equivalent with minimum 55% at degree level OR 60% and above at PGDCA with minimum 45% at B.Sc(Comp Sci.) /BCA/ B.Voc(SD)/Equivalent at degree level

Programme OutCome

At the end of the programme the students will be able to:

PSO1: Develop deep theoretical and practical knowledge of important disciplines of Information Technology like Data Structures, Database Management Systems, Operating Systems and Networks, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Software Architecture, Data Mining and Information Retrieval.

PSO2: Imbibe the skill of writing optimal software programs independent of any particular programming language and platform so as to make the student self-reliant to learn and work in any programming language, tool or platform.

PSO3: Inculcate Soft Skills and Mathematical skills in the student that are required in IT sector.

PSO4: Develop the ability of conducting research independently.

PSO5: Develop the skill of working in teams.

PSO6: Acquire an edge of having real-world experience by virtue of the internship in Software Industry/Research Organization being a mandatory part of the programme.
